Not only is Emma Westchester another resource for kid-friendly events, but it also gives the inside scoop on shopping discounts, restaurant reviews and product suggestions (for both kids and their parents). Those with an interest in fashion and home décor will especially appreciate this site.

On Monday 12/1, I attended a Emma Westchester’s Holiday Gift-Back Luncheon at Tutta Bella hosted by lifestyle bloggers, Erin Baker and Shawna Lubner.  The duo that makes up “Emma” decided to include a Holiday Giving Tree at their event to be held at Athleta on 12/11 from 4-8pm.  They have selected out some independent consultants in the area, such as Younique Cosmetics, Touchstone Crystal and Initials Inc.  In addition, some local businesses such as AVM Casa Candles, AT Slopes Clothing, PopShop Style, Bombinizz Bags and Branches of Beauty will be selling their products and offering their services to those that attend the event.

Athleta has offered to host this event and will raffle off gift cards to shoppers at this event.  The charity tie in came from a need that exists in the community.  Erin Baker, a Brownie Troop leader contacted Don Brown, the director of Eastchester Community Action Partnership in Tuckahoe to adopt a few kids for a toy drive this year.  When she learned that the needs were as great as they were, she offered her help and organized an online signup for volunteers.

“Even in affluent communities like this, there are children in need.  The primary breadwinner becomes suddenly unemployed or injured.  We are happy that Emma Westchester stepped in and offered to help the children that we serve,” said Brown at the luncheon where he addressed a group of community leaders and thanked them for their help with this drive.

To help a child in need this season, visit www.emmawestchester.com, find the Volunteer Spot icon and sign up for a gift item to drop off to Athleta on 12/11 or before.  Emma Westchester’s Holiday Giving Tree hopes to gather 120 presents under the tree at Emma’s Giftique and Gift Drive. RYE BROOK, N.Y. – A pair of Westchester County mothers have created a portal for fellow parents in the area looking to connect with their peers, EmmaWestchester.com, a blog that’s already made a splash among local moms.

Eastchester resident Erin Baker and Shawna Lubner recently launched their parenting blog, which will provide mothers with the latest trends in fashion and everyday life.

The website will offer readers the “inside scoop on quality experiences and unique brands for both children and adults,” with some comical anecdotes from their own lives and kids sprinkled in.

“We’re excited to invite you to share in Emma’s amazing experiences, with the hope that you’ll share it with moms like you,” Baker said when announcing the blog.

According to the website, “Emma is a fictional character, based on two women who are polar opposites on paper, but almost identical in real life.” Baker is a fourth-generation Westchester County native, while her partner grew up on the West Coast before moving east to the suburbs of Manhattan.

The duo has featured national brands on their blog, but have tended to stay faithful to local small business owners, with features on The Dark Horse in Scarsdale and Weezie D. in Bronxville.

Both Baker and Lubner will be on hand from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Thursday Oct. 23 in Rye Brook at “Meet the Authors,” where several local scribes will be on hand to discuss their literature at The Wine Cellar at 122 S. Ridge St.

“We know that Westchester moms like us needed this platform, and that businesses were looking for a blog like ours to reach moms like us,” Lubner added.
